He chases Lefort off the piste, or whatever they call it.
That's the moment French pride takes a hit. For Lefort's phone falls out of his back pocket.
It lies on the ground, as if he's been caught giving his lover a hickey at his parents' house.
The judges then ask him to hand them the phone. Would they go through his pictures? His call records?
This incites several thoughts.
One: Please don't tell me he was playing Pokemon Go.
Two: Oh, don't tell me he was broadcasting on Facebook Live from the inside of his pocket. The extrapolations are upsetting.
Three: Was he expecting an urgent call? If so, from whom? Would he have stopped fencing if the phone had rung?
I
can reveal, though, that this isn't the first time Lefort has been
careless with his phone. In 2013, he lost it and had to post an
alternative number on Twitter. Really.
For now, we have no further idea of why his phone was with him at the moment of maximum impact.
We do know, however, that he was leading 4-2 when the phone fell out. He lost 15-13.
